MASTER CLASS VIDEOS

Below are the online video master classes that you must watch throughout the Get Launched Vegas experience that will demonstrate best practices in several different life skills. Watch the videos and submit your own video essay response, and/or turn in your materials.

**These are video responses, not written responses.**

These videos are to be uploaded into your personal google drive folder that was sent to you once you found out you made it to The Top 40. If you didn't receive the link to your google folder, or if you have any problems dropping your materials into the link, you must email us at glv@positivelyarts.org at least 24 hours before your materials are due.

We highly recommend that you make sure to troubleshoot your google drive folder link well in advance.

These points will go towards your total score for the Accountability & Time Management Category each round. How thoroughly and thoughtfully you respond will determine your score. Just because you answer a question, it doesn't mean you get the full points for that question. You can receive increments of 1/2 points depending on how thoroughly and thoughtfully you answer each question, or based on the quality and time you spent on your other materials.

HOW TO BUILD A CAREER IN THE PERFORMING ARTS

(You can receive up to 10 Points)

**Please film all videos in landscape, not vertical

BELOW ARE THE QUESTIONS:

**Attached are also the sample budget and a blank budget.

Your video response and scoring

Up to 10 points • Five questions • Two clear parts per question

Record a video answering all five questions in order.

Submit your written budget with it as a photo, document, or spreadsheet.

Show the budget in your video and explain the totals rather than reading every line.

1. Choose your direction

A. Which performing career would you like to explore, and why?

B. What are two specific steps you would take to prepare for that path?

2. Show up for other artists

A. Which other artist’s show would you plan to attend, and what would you hope to learn?

B. How much will you set aside each month for other artists’ tickets, and what is that total for one year?

3. Make the most of a guest opportunity

A. An established performer invites you to sing in their show. What two specific actions will you take to help promote it before the show?

B. How will you thank the host and stay connected respectfully after the show?

4. Bring people to the show

A. Give a short invitation to a real or imagined show that includes what makes it interesting and how to get tickets.

B. Beyond friends and family, name one audience you could reach and one practical way to reach them.

5. Make your annual budget

A. Present your annual budget with at least eight expense lines, including other artists’ tickets, plus expected earned income and profit or loss. (You can use the sample word doc attached here or create your own)

B. Explain what was difficult about this process for you and how it makes you feel to think about finances alongside your dream.

How points are awarded

Each A and B is worth 1 point: 1 = complete, specific, and connected to your plan; 0.5 = partly answered or needs detail; 0 = missing or unrelated. For 2B, the monthly amount must match the annual ticket line in the budget. For 5A, full credit requires at least eight expense lines including other artists’ tickets, annual calculations, an income estimate, and a correct result. Half credit applies when the budget is present but incomplete or the math needs correction.

2026 TOP 25 VIDEO MASTER CLASS -

KNOW YOUR "WHY": THE CRAFT VS. THE GAME

(You can receive up to 10 Points)

**Please film all videos in landscape, not vertical

ANSWER BOTH PARTS OF THE QUESTION. USE YOUR OWN WORDS.

       1. The Craft and The Game

A — (1 point) What’s the difference between making your music (“The Craft”) and getting people to notice it (“The Game”)?

B — (1 point) Why don’t scores, likes, or money tell the whole story about your music or how much you matter?

       2. Your Gift

A — (1 point) What’s one strength or something you love about yourself as a singer?

B — (1 point) What’s one specific way you could bring that into a song or performance?

       3. Your Choices

A — (1 point) What’s one choice you’d make in a song or performance because it means something to YOU?

B — (1 point) How would you help the audience connect with that choice while keeping it true to you?

       4. Your Growth

A — (1 point) Give one example of advice a Guide or coach could give you and explain how you’d use it.

B — (1 point) If a Guide points out something you need to work on, why doesn’t that mean you’re any less valuable as a person?

       5. Your Next Step

A — (1 point) Which is toughest for you—making mistakes, feeling nervous, or wanting to be perfect—and how does it affect you?

B — (1 point) What’s one specific step you’ll take to work through that challenge?

How you’ll earn points:

Each part earns 1 point when you clearly answer it, including an example or explanation where requested. Answering one part earns 1 point; answering both earns 2 points per question.

Your video doesn’t need to be long or perfect. You may use notes and pause. We’re scoring your understanding and ideas—not how smoothly you speak!

Positively Arts has created a series called RESET, and it’s a series of mindfulness videos created by Thurman White and LVA students back in 2021. The students attended focus groups and wrote the scripts to these videos themselves, based on what they were thinking and feeling as young students and artists. The RESET YouTube links can be found on the Parent Portal and in the text box of this YouTube.

You must watch all 5 of these RESET videos, one every day for 5 days. If you like them, or one of them, consider watching them more often!!
